Rodent Infestation Assessment & Restoration for Homes
1
Overview
Scenesafe assesses rodent activity and contamination in house walls, insulation, attics and crawl spaces, then plans the cleanup and restoration. In Nova Scotia, we bring pest control, contaminated material cleanup, insulation replacement and restoration together, so the work can continue from finding the affected areas to repairing them.
This combined service is useful when the problem spans several types of work: active rodents, contaminated materials and building repairs.
Homes, Walls & Insulation
We work with owners of older houses, newer homes in neighbourhoods with heavy rodent activity, and properties where signs of infestation are discovered after purchase. Surrounding land and natural habitat can also contribute to recurring rodent activity.
Sometimes signs inside walls or insulation were not apparent during an earlier home inspection. If questions or a dispute arise after a purchase, we can assess the current condition and identify the cleanup and restoration work needed.
Visual Inspection & Camera Assessment
We start with a visual inspection of the reported areas and use an inspection camera to examine accessible wall cavities and other enclosed spaces. We look at signs of rodent activity, affected insulation and materials, and where further access is needed.
After the initial assessment, we discuss any proposed openings with the owner. With the owner’s permission, we can open selected sections of wall or make access openings for a closer assessment of the extent of the infestation and contamination.
A Staged Restoration Plan
We then prepare a phased restoration plan and preliminary quote. Depending on the findings, the work may include pest control, removal of contaminated insulation and nesting material, contaminated material cleanup, disinfection and odour treatment, replacement insulation, and restoration of the areas opened during the work.
The plan sets out the order of work, the proposed scope of each stage and the initial cost. Where opening an area reveals more affected material, we explain the findings and update the scope and price before additional work proceeds.
Pest control is available in Nova Scotia and is listed separately in the quote. Cleanup and restoration requests are reviewed across Atlantic Canada; outside Nova Scotia, active pest control is arranged with a local provider.
Request an Assessment
Homeowners can contact us directly. Send the property location, the areas of concern, photos and any previous pest-control or inspection information. We can discuss an assessment and the next stage of work.
Pest-control work, cleanup, insulation replacement and restoration are identified in the quote. Any work requiring a separate contractor is identified during planning.
