Meth Lab Contamination Assessment Services

We assess suspected drug-production residues using rapid screening kits and field mass spectrometry (Field MS). The methods used depend on the material and the purpose of the assessment.

Field MS is used for powders, surfaces and liquids, not human samples. Reports record the sampling locations, methods, findings and limitations to support further investigation and decontamination planning. Laboratory analysis may be needed to confirm screening findings.

We serve urban and rural areas across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Any travel charge is confirmed before booking.

When scheduling, we confirm the requester’s identity, authority to arrange access and the responsible billing contact.

Our field assessment includes comprehensive testing of potential contamination sources throughout the site, including interior and exterior surfaces, built-in fixtures and finishes, appliances, chemical equipment and laboratory-related materials, residual liquids and powders, HVAC systems and ductwork, drinking water sources, and wastewater systems where applicable.

Following the assessment, we provide a detailed contamination distribution report outlining identified contamination areas and findings. This report serves as a guide for subsequent decontamination planning, remediation activities, or property damage assessment.

Optional Service:
Collection of surface residue samples for laboratory analysis and confirmatory testing.

Post-cleaning testing measures the outcome of the work. We sample selected locations and use methods suited to the substances identified during the initial assessment.

​Where Scenesafe performs decontamination, we clean the identified drug residues to below the selected methods' detection limits. Completion requires non-detect (negative) post-cleaning results for the target substances at the sampled locations. The report records the methods, results and any remaining concerns that need separate assessment, including other hazards associated with drug production.
