Contamination & Odour Source Investigation

An odour that keeps returning can be difficult to address when its source is unclear. We review recurring odours and suspected contamination in buildings and eligible vehicle projects. The purpose is to narrow down likely sources, document what can be established and recommend the next practical step.

 

Tell us where the problem is strongest, when it appears and what has already been tried. Changes after rain, heating, ventilation, occupancy or previous cleaning can help guide the inspection. Photographs, repair records and earlier test reports are useful where available.

 

Start with the History and the Site

 

The assessment begins with the reported problem and an inspection of accessible areas. We look for evidence relevant to the concern and consider whether further access, a repair assessment or specific testing would add useful information.

Testing with a Defined Purpose

 

Where testing is proposed, the scope identifies the question it is intended to answer, the substance or condition being assessed and the sampling locations. We explain the method's limitations and any additional laboratory work before you commit to the cost.

 

A test result from one location cannot describe every concealed material or every time of day. Likewise, an odour description alone does not identify a chemical. The findings distinguish observations, test results and possible explanations that remain unconfirmed.

 

Written Findings and Next Steps

 

You receive a written account of the areas inspected, relevant observations, any agreed testing and the access limitations. It sets out the likely source where the evidence supports one, or the further work needed when it does not.

 

Recommendations may include targeted cleaning, removal of an affected material, further inspection or assessment by a pest-control, plumbing, HVAC or other suitable contractor. Any cleanup we propose is quoted separately, so you can review the findings before deciding how to proceed.
